Ghetto Reno #2 was my daughters house that was put up for sale.. We did a bit of a spruce up to encourage buyers.
The house was originally valued by the real estate agent around $480,000. I thought we should attract the female buyer with this house, so i targeted a professional single mum. I turned the master bedroom into a strong yet feminine bedroom with black and white tones. All white paint and polished timber floors really lit up the rooms.
A double bed (to make the room look larger) was used and trimmed with crisp white sheets, sumptuous black and beige pillows and a natural fibre throw on the bottom. Borrowed bedside table was added, a beautiful 1950's dressing table also added ($155) A little wrought iron chair found on ebay for $45 was added in the corner to showcase a pretty black and silver scarf and some black 2" patent stilletos (not visible in this picture).
Beautiful lights added a gorgeous touch of class with a table lamp on the bedside and a chandelier hanging from the roof.
If you are doing the same, always use plenty of pillows and cushions. It really adds that welcoming touch to a bed.
A quick buy at the local lighting store added some romance to the hallway entrance with a lovely flower chandelier being added. Keep the light globes pearl so they are not so stark in these type of areas.

The downstairs "Rumpus" room, was hit with a bit of colour at one end. The built in bookcase was a feature in this room. A utility room leads off this room, so i tried to keep the focus in the room, not in the next room, by using the bright colour to attract attention. Trimmed with white and timber pieces of furniture gave it a crisp look. This room also contains a brown leather lounge up the other end. White vertical blinds and some more borrowed items like table and pictures were also added.
The formal lounge was kept mono toned with white walls, timber floor and a sumptous creme lounge borrowed from my own collection. Glass tables also added to keep the image of space in this room.
Bedroom 2 was turned into every little girls dream. With an antique bed (found on ebay for $110 including netting), and lovely quilts and cushions, lambswool mat and chandelier, any little girl would love to sleep in this room. Borrowed Barbie Dolls and a lovely timber dolls house really finished it off. Use large pictures in childrens bedrooms to give them a more luxurious look. Treat the room with grown up decor for this type of look.

Don't forget that less is more.....The 3rd bedroom was decorated for a boy. With a play table, timber bed (also found on ebay for $120) and more lovely bed linen, we had many boys not wanting to leave the house after they found this room. Add some play things so the kids get excited about living in this house too. Children have a lot more say in the family than they used to.. It almost seems that children know best for some reason???
6 Weeks of open houses later, and a contract was signed on the house for $550,000. That is $7o,ooo more that the valuation.
Not bad for a Ghetto Reno......$$$$
